Pure Copper Cold Plate Laser Welding System

LIQUID COOLING MANUFACTURING EQUIPMENT
Configure the cold plate welding system around the pure-copper base, cover and seal path. Compare annular-beam and IR–IR, IR–Blue or IR–Green configurations within one part-focused platform selection, supported by a defined sample and acceptance plan.
A platform built around the cold plate joint
The buying task is to seal the designed copper assembly while protecting its dimensional and fluid-path requirements. Define peripheral seams, specified internal joining features and interfaces separately. Joint access, starts and stops, corners and cover support belong in the equipment discussion—not only the laser source specification. Internal channels are not assumed to be laser-machined.
Confirm the material certificate and applicable grade system. ETP, OF and OFE identify different pure-copper categories; “T2” requires its applicable standard rather than an automatic UNS equivalence. A nickel-plated oxygen-free copper part has both a base-material identity and a surface state. The pure copper grade guide helps organize those inputs.
Select the beam and source dimensions independently
| Dimension | Choices | Validation question |
|---|---|---|
| Spatial profile | Annular; core-ring where the hardware includes a center beam | What distribution reaches the workpiece, and which settings are controllable? |
| IR–IR | Infrared combination defined by the selected implementation | What are the actual channels, layout and control relationship? |
| IR–Blue | Infrared and blue processing combination | How does the documented configuration perform on this surface and joint? |
| IR–Green | Infrared and green processing combination | What optical arrangement and processing window meet the agreed checks? |
These are overlapping configuration dimensions, not four automatically different machines. Ring shape alone does not establish independent core/ring control. IR–IR alone does not establish two different wavelengths or independently controlled sources. Optics, motion, protection and clamping remain part of the same selection.
Protect fit-up, seal paths and channels
Define a locating strategy from the part datums, then examine tolerance stack-up, contact support and access along the whole path. Specify how the fixture presents the seam and permits loading without introducing an uncontrolled gap. Evaluate seam tracking, program selection and monitoring against the actual part mix.
Sample inspection should connect the selected settings to seam continuity and internal quality, channel intrusion or debris, deformation and flatness. Surface preparation must address the identified contamination or coating task; local laser treatment does not replace final cleaning of enclosed passages.
Connect welding to the right verification route
Use an agreed helium test for the required leakage decision, with a vacuum chamber system for an overall assessment or a sniffer station for localization where applicable. Keep proof pressure, burst, flow and thermal checks separate. For station interfaces and traceability, compare the welding and helium-testing line.
Prepare a useful equipment enquiry
Provide controlled drawings, grade and coating information, representative samples, seam locations, required checks and the production mix. The machine-selection guide separates fixture, motion and inspection choices; the hybrid-source guide and beam-profile guide support configuration comparison. Use the RFQ checklist to define deliverables rather than requesting a power rating alone.
Frequently asked questions
Are annular and hybrid configurations separate product models?
Not necessarily. They are configuration dimensions of this part-focused system. The project technical scope identifies the selected hardware and its controls.
Is a universal copper welding recipe supplied here?
No. The validated recipe is tied to material, surface, joint, fixture and inspection conditions. The quotation and sample report define the chosen configuration.
